tabnav demo |
TabNav is shown typically deployed in a frame at left. There are four
tabs (labelled First, Second, Third, Fourth) but only the first tab has
any menu entries included. The tabs scroll buttons are added automatically if the total width of the tabs exceeds that of the applet. In this example tabs and menus configuration data is read from a file config.txt. Most of the entries in this file are dummies to fill out the demo, without URL links. Three entries are live: show config data, show demo page and show manual which display the contents of config.txt, this page and the tabnav manual respectively. Use a copy of config.txt as a starting point when building your own tab & menu configuration. The structure of tab & menu data is explained in the main manual section configuring tabs, menus, URLs and hints. A simple two color background graphic is used in the menu frame to show how correct graphic alignment can be achieved when using the same graphic to fill the applet tabs and hint sections backgrounds. This technique is dicussed in the main manual section positioning the applet. Although TabNav is show here in a frame at left alternative layouts are equally valid. For example, a frame across the top could contain a 'wide and short' version - with the possible advantage all tabs would likely be permanently visible - rather than the 'narrow and tall' example shown.
